Wouldn’t it be better if your kegorator could tell you when you were going to run out of beer?
This device really was a ‘necessity is the mother of invention’ situation. Taoti has a kegorator on our roof deck, but we would always kick the keg at the most inopportune times. So we devised a Raspberry Pi-powered flow meter (and temperature gauge, while we were at it) to measure the precise amount of beer poured. The “IntelliPour” system was born.
Once we had that data, it wasn’t much of a stretch to build a full dashboard that tells us everything from how much beer we drink by day, week and month, to how many beers are left in the keg (it even shows that data based on size of cup we’re using.) And perhaps most importantly, when the keg starts to get low, it tweets at us to let us know to order a new keg. Next up on the product roadmap: get the keg to tweet directly to the distributor so that it can simply re-order itself when it gets low. Now, if only we could find a way to get the keg to lug itself up three flights of stairs to our roof!
