Helping you move the needle.
More than just a web dev shop.
Our Development Philosophy: Taoti is an open source shop at heart. Instead of reinventing wheels or spending resources on big licensing fees, we believe in starting with what others have done and extending the features and functions from there. We have a “70/30 Principle,” which basically says most of the time, 70% of our technical builds have common parts. So let’s use 30% of the available resources to get us 70% of the way there, then use the remaining 70% of the resources to focus on the part of the project that really can move the needle. That’s how real value is achieved!
Our Content Philosophy: As they say, ‘content is king.’ We couldn’t agree more. There is nothing we can build—digital or tangible—that is going to mask lousy content. You need to have something meaningful to say, or it’s game over. On top of it, there is so much noise these days. It’s not enough to have ‘good’ content. You need to be able to get your message across in a way that gets attention. Whether it’s with the tone or format or medium is a strategic conversation we should have. But there’s no way around it. What you say and how you say it has to the foundation of every project.
Accessibility & Privacy
Our Accessibility & Privacy Philosophy: Remember when “mobile-first” was a thing, with projects prioritizing the mobile experience of all components and styling over anything else? This type of thinking has since been seared so deeply into the DNA of the internet that it’s hardly even a selling point anymore. However when it comes to Accessibility and Privacy (A&P), the web is just getting its feet wet, causing a seismic shift in how agencies are expected to build and deliver digital projects. Too often do agencies build projects first, then have a QA Engineer and/or Compliance Analyst go back through it to ensure compliance with the ADA, Section 508 guidelines, and various privacy laws. This thinking is fundamentally flawed and simply put, that’s the wrong way to do it! Accessibility and privacy requirements need a seat at the table from day one. A&P is no longer just part of the Quality Assurance program at Taoti but rather an integral part of the strategy process that has become our “A&P-First” approach to digital projects.
Our Marketing Philosophy: Exceptional strategy leads to exceptional results. An effective marketing and communications strategy is one that leverages ordinary advertising tactics in an extraordinary way. You see thousands of ads every day, but only a few get your attention; and of those, even fewer resonate and drive action. Is it a challenge to cut through the noise in a unique way? Of course, but that’s what makes it fun. Our team thrives creating and executing marketing campaigns that achieve results. Whether you need messaging, design, media buying, or everything but the kitchen sink, we’ve got you covered.
Our Branding Philosophy: Your company makes your brand. Not the other way around. Sure, logos and colors and fonts are all part of it, but there is no logo we can design to change who you are as an organization. But what we can do is make sure your brand and messaging reflect your organization’s true self. Branding is more about delving into what makes you tick—about articulating your ‘why’—than it is about pretty logos. Don’t get us wrong: a polished visual brand is absolutely necessary to help convey your ethos, but that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Figuring out the stuff below the waterline is where we earn our keep!
Digital Meets Physical
Our Digital Meets Physical Philosophy: There is a new sliver of space between the physical and digital worlds that didn’t exist even a few years ago. New advances in connected device technologies have made it feasible to create devices, installations, and experiences, which allow interaction in a digital realm to manifest in the physical world, and vice versa. This is still a cutting-edge area of marketing, which has the advantage of helping cut through proverbial noise just by the sheer novelty of it all. That’s why you think lame content in VR goggles is still cool. Just the experience is enough to get your attention, even if the content didn’t otherwise justify it. This opportunity won’t last forever, but while it’s still new and exciting, there is a huge opportunity for a whole new kind of experiential marketing here!
Our Virtual Events Philosophy: Even after the world goes back to some semblance of normal, we believe that events will be forever changed. Sure, physical events will proceed to take place again, but as inclusiveness and accessibility becoming driving forces behind all content, having digital and virtual versions of your events will be crucial from here on out. The good news is that while ‘going digital’ has been generally seen as a makeshift version of what was otherwise intended to be a physical event. Taoti sees digital events as an opportunity to leverage technology to not just be a substitute or accompaniment for a physical event, but to really enhance the overall event in a way that was never possible when things were ‘just physical.’ Whether you’re trying to move your traditional event online to accommodate short-term COVID19 concerns or looking to usher in a new era of convening that includes a digital strategy going forward, Taoti has the people, ideas, and production capacity to take your events to another level.
Our UX Philosophy: When it comes to creating experiences, one word comes to mind: empathy. Getting the UX right is always about being able to put ourselves in the shoes of the end user. No one disagrees with that at face value, but there’s a bit more to it. The problem is that all users are not created equal. Different users need different things, and sometimes, those things are contrary to each other such that the more we optimize for one segment, the more we alienate another. Best practices only take you so far, but then we need to test and let the data do the talking. When we talk about UX strategy, these are the issues we work with our clients to figure out. The answers aren’t always obvious, but we let a clear understanding of our audiences and our objectives be the guiding light towards the most effective overall user experience.
Our Government Services Philosophy: Gov gets a bad rap sometimes. But we know the public sector is made up of hard-working, well-intentioned, creative people that very much want government work to be a shining beacon of innovation, efficiency, and effectiveness. Just like us. Some agencies water it down for the government because they think that’s what the government needs. And while we understand and respect the specific parameters within public sector work, we don’t see those as barriers to needle-moving work. Nothing puts a smile on our faces like delivering public-serving projects that help our friends and neighbors and makes the government look good. Fully equipped with a GSA schedule, cleared employees, and a host of other government-friendly certifications, we’re eager to do our part to make our government shine.
