The countdown is on — only one more week until Drupal GovCon returns to NIH!

Drupal GovCon is a three-day Drupal conference held at the National Institute of Health in Bethesda, Maryland. The conference is geared towards anyone interested in learning the ins-and-outs of Drupal and connecting with the Drupal community.

Session Schedule

The session schedule is now available online! Be sure to plan out your schedule ahead of time to get the most out of this epic three-day event.

For those of you interested in Front-End Development and User Experience Design, our very own Director of Technology, Marvin Oey, will be presenting an exciting ongoing project that leverages ‘maker devices’ (in this case, a self-contained Arduino device) to connect the digital and physical worlds in ways that we used to dream of.

This session offers a peek into how we gather and push data in remote locations, pull it all into Drupal, and then leverage front-end frameworks to create visualized data dashboards to let the right people know how much water is in the well and when it hits critical levels.

The session is scheduled for Thursday, July 21st at 1:00 pm.

Event Logistics & Info

This is a tech event. Unless you are planning to be at a meeting, jeans and a t-shirt are acceptable attire. You will be moving from room to room and where necessary and possible, playing with code, so it’s important to be comfortable.

Do I need a laptop?

Yes. If you are planning to do any hands-on activities, you will need one. If you are planning to attend the community sessions, a laptop is not necessary.

The 3-day conference is located on the main campus of the National Institutes of Health. The NIH Gateway Center (security building) is located next to the visitor parking lot and Medical Center Metro Station (Red line). Metro is recommended since parking is limited (the external lot costs $12 per day). Photo ID is required to enter the campus. Once through security, it is either a short walk or a shuttle bus ride to the conference location (Natcher building). Drupal volunteers will be available in the Gateway Center to help direct attendees.

Lunches & snacks

Drupal GovCon has you covered! Coffee and donuts will be provided during registration and the morning break. A snack and water will be available in the afternoon for the afternoon break and boxed lunches are provided both days.

Let’s connect!
