Taoti is a digital agency and a cool place to work! Part of being cool is not needing to say you’re cool. Coolness comes from knowing that other people can just sense it. We get that. However, we’ve been nominated as DC’s Coolest Company for DC Inno’s 2017 DC Fest, so we’re going to shout it from the highest rooftop… or, at least from our awesome roof deck.
As CEO of a digital agency (Taoti Creative), the most important thing I do is hire people. We’re in the business of custom solutions, so our work is only ever going to be as good as the people doing it, so getting top notch people is directly related to our success—much more so than I think a lot of people realize. That’s why I still do most of the hiring myself, despite a lot of people telling me that I need to let an HR person do this stuff. As we have grown and attracted more of a following, our job ads tend to be more fishing with a net than hunting with a rifle. A single ad recently yielded over 300 applications. And I take personal pride in responding to everyone who applied, one way or another. I think it’s just respectful, frankly. But it also forces me to look at everyone, even if just very briefly. And I’m glad I do because there are some real diamonds in the rough now and then.
Taoti Creative is a Washington-DC based digital strategy and web development shop. While we dabble in lots of things, we specialize in Drupal web development. And we are seeking a full time web developer to help us build Drupal websites. This is a junior/mid-level type of position. The job will involve a lot of ‘site building’ in Drupal (creating content types, building out pages, some light theming, etc.) You’ll work with (often side-by-side) more experienced Drupal developers and architects who will largely set you on the right path and then oversee your build-out of the website. You’ll learn how a small but ‘real agency’ systematically produces large-scale projects from the ground up–things like a legit discovery process, an established “watergile” methodology, git version control, project management, task allocation, quality control, etc. You’ll be working on real, major projects in a meaningful way–such that that you’ll be able to point to and say, “I did that.” Clients include the likes of USAID, The California State Senate, National Democratic Network, Women for Women International, the Ocean Foundation, etc. (We do a lot of non-profit work, but also work with nationally-recognized government and commercial clients.)
I’m Brent. Chain smoking and womanizing tendencies aside, I’m basically our Don Draper here at Taoti Creative. (Taoti is a Washington, DC-based digital strategy and web development agency.) As we grow, I’m finding I need more time to be Cooper, which means I need a new Don Draper to head up and build out our creative department. I need a creative leader who is as strategic as she/he is artistic. And someone who can walk into a board room, command a presence, and not just dazzle, but really convince the players in the room (their side and ours) that you’ve got the innovative ideas and raw talent to create great work—work that delights as it impacts. Work that fosters change. Work that is effective, efficient, and smart.
If you’re my next Don Draper, you already know it and you’ve been waiting for an opportunity to be the leading creative role at a growing digital agency. Taoti has the client base, process, and development team in place to provide your canvas. We just need you to be brilliant with it.
Washington, DC-based Taoti Creative (a digital strategy / web development agency) is looking for a creative leader to grow its creative department!
Taoti Creative is a Washington DC-based, creatively-focused, web development shop that specializes in open source website and web application development (Drupal is our specialty, but we’re not a slave to it—especially if we want to do something a bit more special purpose). We do some pretty cool stuff for some pretty significant clients—largely centered in the non-profit world (though we work with most sectors).
