Mom and Pop Store Takes to the Web

Overview

The Cheesecake Company of Naples faced a classic corporate growing pain: how to expand sales beyond a geographically limiting local distribution area.  The solution was clear: take the sales effort to the internet.

Before a nation-wide rollout could be launched, we needed to address branding issues by revamping the brand to be more modern, polished, and in line with the target audience that drove the local success.  Once the company’s image was right, Taoti developed a custom product catalog and ecommerce solution that offered the Cheesecake Factory a turnkey solution for managing their constantly-changing catalog, inventory levels, and of course, sales.  On top of the sales end of the system, a detailed reporting and analytics system was developed to ensure that there was never any guesswork as to how much raw material to order, which products were the best sellers, or what times of year were going to generate the highest demand: the trends and monitoring tools took care of helping management make those decisions on a daily basis.

Solution Highlights

  2. A custom ecommerce shipping cart system (featuring inventory control, integrated UPS/FedEx shipping calculator, usage reporting and analytics, and a customer database system for repeat users.)
  3. An opt-in newsletter signup system for capturing leads to which monthly tips, tricks and offers are sent (Taoti also worked with Naples to develop the creative used for these mailings.)

The Results

The Cheesecake factory went from a local mom and pop store to being a national distributor almost overnight.  Sales increased 43% within the three months after going live.  The return on the re-branding and web development investment was realized in under a year.
